As I go insane trying to get as many paintings done as humanly possible in a 1 week time period, I find myself running dry for ideas. I usually create small landscapes which are nice and somewhat non-descript, but I like to throw more detailed paintings in there every so often, like my previous buttons or skeleton keys so as to break up the monotony and also do some more intricate work.
I have a couple ideas floating around in the memory bank (no pun intended) and I thought these may be too time intensive for the amount of work I am trying to get done. Well, self-sabatoge is always fun so I took as stab at them.
The quarter was significantly harder than the penny, mostly because of the color. That grey/pink/orange/blue kept playing tricks on me.it took quite a few washes and adjustements and mixes but I think I am pretty happy with the end product. The penny, on the other hand was finished within one day and I LOVE the background color and the way it looks with the border.
both panels are 6 by 6, but the penny is taped off at 4 by 4. I adjusted the colors slightly from the original photos so that they would go nicely as a set. Love the grey and orange!

I really admire your patience in replicating all the detail! Especially the shadings/highlights in the penny.
How long did it take you to finish each panel???
Thanks Christina! Each panel probably took a total of 4 to 5 hours. That might not include gessoing and sanding to prepare each one.
